Support for families of protest victims
The military junta in Myanmar has been brutally suppressing democracy protests since the military attempted to seize power in an illegitimate coup on 1 February 2021. In a bid to retain control, the military has launched a crackdown using live ammunition and combat zone weaponry used with sadistic cruelty, as it has against the ethnic states for decades.
All people across Myanmar now need urgent support.
Injuries of civilians are escalating. On the streets, bodies are being mutilated, permanent brain damage inflicted, youths now paralysed from the hip down, arms and hands being shot off at close range.
More than 700 people have now been killed by security forces.
Over 3000 people are being detained.
In military detention, students, striking civil servants, and many others are tortured. Those who are not tortured to death will have long-term mental health scars and or disabilities.
Direct financial assistance is urgently needed for these families and communities amidst a COVID-19 pandemic, utter economic devastation, and daily repression.
