Give the gift of hope and freedom to Myanmar
The world’s attention shifts. Headlines change.
But the struggle for democracy, freedom and human rights in Myanmar continues.
Brave activists, human rights defenders and communities continue creating hope, supporting one another, and working towards a better future.
A gift in your Will can help ensure they are not left behind when international attention fades.
Your gift could help provide healthcare, education, advocacy, emergency support and long-term assistance—giving communities the opportunity to recover, rebuild and shape their own future.
Why include a gift in Your Will?
Including a gift in your Will is a powerful way to stand alongside the people of Myanmar long after today’s headlines have faded.
The struggle for democracy, freedom, and human rights continues every day. Brave activists, community leaders, and local organisations are working tirelessly to protect lives, support one another, and create a better future.
A gift in your Will helps ensure they are not forgotten.
After taking care of your loved ones, even a small percentage of your estate could help provide long-term support for communities rebuilding their lives. It’s a gift of hope, compassion, and solidarity with people determined to shape their own future.
For many supporters, including a gift in their Will is simply a way of continuing the values they have lived by throughout their lifetime.
How your gift will help
Every gift, no matter its size, helps Advance Myanmar continue supporting trusted local partners working where help is needed most.
Your future gift could help provide:
- Healthcare for communities affected by conflict.
- Education and opportunities for young people.
- Human rights advocacy, and support for activists.
- Emergency assistance for displaced families.
- Long-term recovery and community resilience.
Because we work alongside local organisations, your gift helps ensure support reaches those who understand their communities best and are committed to creating lasting change.
While the world’s attention may move on, your generosity can help ensure hope, freedom and opportunity continue for many years to come.
How to include a Gift
Including a gift in your Will is straightforward and can be done when making a new Will or updating an existing one.
Many people choose to support by including a percentage of their estate, known as a residual gift. This ensures that your loved ones are cared for first, while also allowing your gift to grow alongside inflation.

Stories from supporters who have included a gift in their Will
Standing with Myanmar, long after the headlines fade
Janet first visited Myanmar in 2018 after years of wanting to experience the country for herself. What stayed with her wasn’t just the beautiful landscapes, but the kindness, generosity and resilience of the people she met.
When the military coup took place in 2021, she found it impossible to simply move on as the news cycle changed.
“So often it becomes a new week, a new cause. But I wanted to stick with one cause that means something to me.”
Having worked in the charity sector herself, Janet understands how transformational gifts in Wills can be.
“I don’t think it’s widely known how important gifts in Wills are for charities. They really are a lifeline.”
Today, Janet has chosen to include Advance Myanmar in her Will so the people she came to care about will continue to be remembered for years to come.
From Jane’s Family Roots to a Future of Hope
Jane’s connection with Myanmar began long before she ever visited. Her grandfather worked in Rangoon (now Yangon), and family stories sparked a lifelong interest in the country.
When she finally travelled there, she fell in love with its people, culture, and extraordinary warmth.
Following the ongoing conflict, Jane decided to include Advance Myanmar in her Will.
For her, it’s a way of giving something back to a country that has meant so much to her family.
“The people need their freedom. They deserve better.”
Jane hopes her future gift will help communities build a peaceful, democratic future where education, opportunity and freedom can flourish.
